City Hall School

We are pleased to announce that we have been invited to participate in this week’s City Hall School, we are very excited to talk about Watershed+ and some of the artists’ works this morning!

“Citizenship and municipal governance come alive at City Hall School as students and teachers spend a week at the municipal building. City Hall School is a week-long, custom designed educational program for all Calgary students in grades three to twelve and is delivered in partnership with The City of Calgary’s Community & Neighbourhood Services and Campus Calgary.”

WATERSHED+ Bus Tour

We are delighted to post that the WATERSHED+ bus tour, coordinated by Esker Foundation, was a huge success! Many thanks to all who participated!

Esker Foundation and representatives from The City of Calgary and the WATERSHED+ program presented a behind the scenes tour of Calgary’s water management systems and public art projects spearheaded by the WATERSHED+ program. This guided tour provided opportunities to meet City of Calgary engineers and scientists alongside artists such as Sans façon. Installation of Broken City Lab’s Project Varying Proximities

This project was produced as part of the WATERSHED+ Artist in Residency program where collective Broken City Lab (Windsor, ON) spent parts of the past year researching and developing projects around Calgary’s watershed.

The Artist in Residency program is part of The City of Calgary’s innovative and groundbreaking WATERSHED+ public art program, hosted by the Utilities and Environmental Protection (UEP) department. WATERSHED+ creatively renews the relationship between Calgarians and the Bow River watershed, embedding artists, and more specifically, their creative process within UEP core activities and the Calgary watershed.

PUBLIC ART NETWORK – 2014 YEAR IN REVIEW

We’ve just received confirmation that our Fire Hydrant Fountains and the WATERSHED+ residency with Rachel Duckhouse have both been recognized by the Americans for the Arts and selected for the Public Art Network – 2014 Year in Review.

Americans for the Arts recognizes outstanding public art projects in North America each year. This year PAN received 345 applications from public art programs and artists. A total of 37 projects were selected from the open call process. We feel very honoured to be recognized by the Americans for the Arts.
